Inspiring Hope in the Next Generation: Stand Tall Australia’s Impact on Youth Wellbeing

In today’s rapidly changing world, young people are navigating increasing levels of stress, uncertainty, and social pressure. More than ever, they need inspiration, hope, and positive role models to guide them.

Founded with a vision to ignite hope in the hearts of Australian youth, Stand Tall has grown into a leading organisation in the space of youth wellbeing. At the heart of our work is a belief that every young person matters, and that by surrounding them with stories of resilience, courage, and purpose, we can empower them to never give up and to feel hopeful and excited about their futures.

Australia’s Largest Youth Wellbeing Events

Our annual flagship event, held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Sydney, draws over 6,000 students and teachers.  This live event is more than just a program, it’s an exciting, dynamic experience where students hear directly from a lineup of speakers including elite athletes and Olympians, individuals who have overcome significant adversity, and change-makers who are using their lives to positively impact the world around them. Our events also feature fun competitions and giveaways that always have students laughing and cheering, as well as musical performances by leading artists.

Some of the most powerful moments come when students hear from speakers who share their most difficult moments, and how they found a way to keep going even when it felt impossible. It’s real-life stories like these that have a lasting impact on students, and through years of survey feedback we know, is changing and saving lives

As a suicide prevention accredited charity, Stand Tall is deeply aware of the alarming statistics of mental health challenges our young people face, and we are committed to making a positive difference.

Free Online Replay

We believe every child deserves to hear a message of hope. We want Stand Tall to be as accessible as possible, and so in recent years we have offered a free online Replay of our Sydney event – a resource that has to date received over 450,000 registrations across Australia. This digital version has proven to be an invaluable tool for schools and teachers, being used in PDHPE and Wellbeing classes, as well as school assemblies.

Aligned with key PDHPE curriculum themes such as resilience, positive relationships, emotional wellbeing, and goal-setting, the online Replay provides a flexible and engaging way to continue the conversation in classrooms and homes across the country.

Taking Stand Tall to New Areas

While our flagship event takes place in Sydney, our heart is to reach young people everywhere. That’s why we have also hosted events in Dubbo, Tamworth, Pambula, Canberra and Liverpool. Next year we will host our first event in Coffs Harbour!

The Measurable Impact

At each Stand Tall event, we conduct a post event survey – and the results we receive are astounding each time. Statistics from our Stand Tall Sydney 2025 event showed:

  • 100% of teachers believe Stand Tall Sydney positively impacted their students
  • 100% of teachers would recommend Stand Tall to other schools
  • 100% of teachers believe Stand Tall is a beneficial mental health resource
  • 100% of teachers believe Stand Tall Sydney has equipped their students to overcome adversity

And many teachers wrote to us sharing their experience of Stand Tall:

“It was by far the best school-based event I have attended. The organisation of such a massive event was excellent, from the transportation, the ushering of schools to their seats, the communication and the venue. The program was outstanding, not only in relation to the speakers, which were exceptional but also the performances. It was so great to see the students enjoy those performances and then see them re engage.”

“Students were connected and engaged by the inspirational speakers. The resilience and mind set of the speakers to overcome the adversities they faced provides the students not only with hope but allows them to understand that other people are also dealing with the hard stuff.”g, not only in relation to the speakers, which were exceptional but also the performances. It was so great to see the students enjoy those performances and then see them re engage.”

“We are dealing with so many students with mental health issues and resources are so stretched within schools and external stakeholders that having exposure to something like Stand Tall is beneficial.”

A Resource for Educators and Families

Everything we do at Stand Tall is designed to complement the work of educators and families. Our speakers’ stories and curated resources are tailored to support teachers delivering content in the PDHPE learning area, with a strong focus on emotional literacy, personal growth, and wellbeing strategies. In a time where mental health is front and centre in educational discourse, Stand Tall is proud to offer a free, high-quality tool that can be embedded into wellbeing programs, used in school assemblies, or integrated into classroom learning.

Looking Ahead

We believe the message of hope is timeless and needed more than ever before. As we continue to grow and reach more young people, our goal remains the same: to share a message of hope with the next generation.
