What is Reality Now?
Reality Now is a student-centered, evidence-based alcohol and drug education program for secondary students, designed to help young people make informed choices about substance use.
Our sessions work with schools to equip students with skills to manage peer pressure, stay safe, and close the gap between perception and reality in substance use among their peers.
The program takes a social norms approach, using a real-time survey tool to challenge students’ perceptions about alcohol, vaping, smoking, cannabis, and other drugs. The survey data allows students to see how their views compare to national norms, offering a grounded understanding of actual substance use behaviours. This de-identified data is also shared with schools to provide insights into current trends within each cohort, supporting the development of student wellbeing programs.
Program Features:
- In-school delivery: Available in flexible formats, including year-level lectures, small group
sessions, or individual classes. - Real-time insights: An interactive survey captures students' perceptions and compares them
to reality, promoting informed decision-making. - New Content on Vaping: Recently updated to include the latest information on vaping
trends and impacts. - Parent and teacher support: Each booking includes wrap-around teaching resources and
assignment tasks to extend the learnings, plus a suite of online parent resources to support
discussions at home.
Reality Now empowers students to navigate social influences responsibly, stay safe, and make respectful choices that support their long-term wellbeing.
