Australia’s Health 2026 has been officially released by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
Australia’s health report card is in, revealing that while we’re living longer than ever before, the nation is facing a growing burden of chronic disease, particularly obesity and mental illness.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare’s (AIHW) Australia’s Health 2026 report provides a comprehensive snapshot of the nation’s health, the factors influencing health outcomes, and the emerging issues shaping the future of Australia’s health system.
For Health and Movement Science and Community and Family Studies students and teachers, the report provides valuable, up-to-date evidence to support syllabus learning. It explores Australia’s current health priorities, including chronic conditions, mental health, and the social determinants of health, while also comparing Australia’s performance with other OECD countries across indicators such as life expectancy, overweight and obesity, alcohol consumption, and infant mortality.
The report is a useful resource for investigating health status, health inequities, wellbeing, population health trends, and the social and environmental factors that influence the health of individuals, families and communities.
